Matter is constantly shifting and reforming.  Forever in flux.  These vignettes are mere glimpses of a new environment, forged from the bones and ghosts of the one before it. Before there was life, there was chaos, and after life there was chaos.  And somewhere between life and chaos we can find stillness.
